Zach Swanson began his musical studies at age 6, studying classical and jazz for 12 years with Lynn Lovell. He currently studies at the Peabody Institute with bass virtuoso Michael Formanek. His current musical interests include improvised music, modal jazz, experimental and otherwise “out” playing. His current favorite musical projects include a Northampton based folk rock group Under the Radar and the experimental improvising duo/trio The Drop Squad. Among countless others, musical influences include Tim Berne, Chris McGregor, Charles Mingus, Dave Holland, Perry Robinson, Paul Dunmall and of course Mike and Lynn. He would like to thank his parents for the years of driving he has put them through.
